So what is a lurcher? A lurcher is a loveable, contrary, clever, cunning, speedy, loyal, decisive, beautiful couch potato a.k.a. Bed-Hogger. Yes, these are the defining contradictions that characterise the lurcher group of dogs, which remains unrecognised as a breed by the Kennel Club, as they defy definition. So the term “Lurcher” is merely descriptive. Wherein, perhaps, lies their not inconsiderable charm.
