Blood Moon Eclipse

People in the Americas, Europe and Africa will see the total lunar eclipse during the night of May 15-16, 2022. Plus, on this night, the moon is close: a supermoon.

“Blood moon" is the term to describe the part of the total lunar eclipse in which all the Earth's sunrises and sunsets project onto the moon's surface as it passes through Earth's shadow, darkening it and giving it its crimson colour.

This name has been attributed to Algonquin peoples, who originated in Canada and still live around the Quebec area. It refers to the fact that this time of year is characterized by the growth of spring flowers in North America, according to The Old Farmer's Almanac.

May's full moon will also be very close to its perigee—the point in the moon's orbit when it is closest to Earth—and can be described as a "supermoon" as a result. The moon has an elliptical orbit around the Earth, meaning the distance between it and our planet varies over time.

Under the May 2022, Blood Moon Eclipse, we are being guided to close the door on a chapter in our lives. This Eclipse represents endings, closure, and completion. Something needs to end, and this Eclipse is going to be the trigger.

Scorpio is represented by the scorpion for its ability to transform itself and shed its skin. But Scorpio energy is also connected to the Phoenix too. The Phoenix has the ability, the strength, and the power to birth itself from ashes. From the ashes it rises into its true and highest form.

So not only are the meadow flowers coming into bloom and daisy chains are the order of the day, but we have a chance to reinvent ourselves in a powerful and authentic way.

As I listen to the rain outside which I hope is not too heavy to damage the crops but is much needed and I hear our songbirds like the rain forest, definitely happy, I contemplate new beginnings. For as Reverend Mother says in The Sound of Music, when one door closes another one opens. How exciting is that?

So tonight, if the sky is even vaguely clear, look up and witness change. Even it is not, carry in your heart possibility, growth and blossoming. There is more power in nature than guns so perhaps we are beginning to see the beginning of the end of the Ukraine War?

As this Eclipse carries the theme of endings, we may find ourselves needing to let go of something or realizing that our current path needs to change in order to better serve us. The Eclipse is urging to let go of what does not serve us and seek a better purpose.

And the next moon will be the Strawberry Moon when we approach Midsummer and the Longest Day of the Year, another supermoon this time approaching the Midsummer Solstice.
